Tender Loving Care Dolls
Members of the Tender Loving Care Dolls committee sew and distribute hand-crafted dolls to agencies in Montgomery County that counsel children who have been abused or assaulted. The dolls provide a tool to encourage children to begin to express their feelings. Local agencies using these dolls include:
- Children's Safe Harbor
- DePelchin Children's Center
- Grief Resource Center
- Montgomery County Youth Services
- Tri-County MHMR
- Montgomery County Women's Center
- Sam Houston, Bonnie Wilkinson, and Geisinger Elementary Schools
The program has been expanded to provide comfort dolls to Alzheimer's patients and those suffering from dementia.
From June 2010 through May 2011, 579 recipients received dolls that were lovingly created by our members who dedicated over 2,000 hours to this program.
