Scholarship
Assistance League of Montgomery County funds a three-tier scholarship program. The organization offers three different types of scholarships:
- Six scholarships are given to graduating high school seniors who are accepted to a Texas four-year university/college and are planning to major in a discipline that allows the student to serve the community.
- Up to 12 scholarships provide continuing education funds and assistance for students who are currently enrolled in college.
- Return-to-Education scholarships are given to non-traditional students who attend community colleges to develop work skills in response to a life- or work-altering event.
During the past year, $34,000 was awarded to worthy recipients in the community. Since the majority of the recipients are first-generation college students, the committee initiated a mentoring program to help recipients successfully transition to the college setting.
