Philanthropic Programs
Fans for Friends
Many low-income senior citizens in Montgomery County cannot afford relief from the extremes of summer and winter temperatures. The Fans for Friends program provides large electric fans for the summer and blankets in the winter for seniors in need. During the 2011-2012 fiscal year, over 1,100 individuals were helped.
From June 2011 through May 2012, Fans for Friends has delivered 680 fans and 495 blankets to different agencies throughout Montgomery County to be distributed to seniors in need. The fans and blankets are distributed through the following agencies:
- The Mission
- Society of St. Vincent DePaul
- The Friendship Center
- Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Association
- The Salvation Army
- Tamina Community Center
- Montgomery United Methodist Church
- The Area Agency on Aging
- The China Chapel
- Campus of Hope
