Community Outreach
Community Outreach is a program utilized when one-time or short-term emergency community needs must be addressed. During the 2010-2011 fiscal year, $7,268 worth of equipment, supplies, and goods were distributed to other community service organizations. Over 8,400 Montgomery County residents were helped by this program.
The Community Outreach program provides non-perishable food for a local elementary school's backpack program. It has also responded to the needs of other community outreach organizations. During the past year, the program supplied a trailer for food deliveries to various county agencies; a refrigerator at a day care center that serves children and seniors; repaired an air conditioner at a youth group home; and donated water and paper products for a summer cooling station. The committee also hosted a Christmas gift tree to collect gift cards for our scholarship recipients. During the past year, the program has provided tires to the Salvation Army for one of their trucks; purchased an ice machine for The Friendship Center; and purchased a copy machine for a local after-school program.
